Where can I use the card?
You can use the Health Wallet card at any IIAS approved merchant. A full list of IIAS approved merchants is available at www.sig-is.org. Vendors like FSAstore.com, HSAstore.com, Walmart, Target, Walgreens, and CVS are all approved vendors.
The card cannot be used for co-payments at doctor's offices at this time.
Do I still need to submit documentation? What documentation do I need to submit?
In short, no! But if you cannot use your card, then yes!
The IRS requires all HRA Account transactions to be verified as a qualified medical expense, a process called substantiation. In short, it means that we need to ensure you’re using your HRA Account funds appropriately. The items or services that you purchase must comply with 213(d) regulations, and the Date of Service must be within the same year as the funds were made available.
Some merchants are IIAS-certified, which means that have a technology that automatically identifies products that are HRA Account-eligible. When you use your HRA Account card at any of these stores, you won’t have to substantiate your purchase. A regularly updated list of these stores and pharmacies, that are certified as IIAS compliant, can be found at www.sig-is.org.
If you do not use your card, all transactions must be manually substantiated with receipts or other documentation. You can find out how to submit this documentation by visiting our help center article here.
All receipts or documentation must include the following information:
-
-
Name of person who incurred the service or expense
-
Name and address of the provider or merchant
-
Date of service for the amount charged
-
Detailed description of the service
-
Amount due for the service provided
-
- Explanation-of-Benefits contain the required information and are excellent sources of documentation.
- Receipts for card transactions and canceled checks are not acceptable!
- Receipts for over-the-counter and prescription items do not need to include the person’s name but must display the name of the item purchased (e.g. band aids).
- In some cases, a letter from a medical professional may also be required to verify that the expense was medically necessary.
What if I used my Health Wallet card for an ineligible purchase?
Your account can be used for eligible medical expenses only, and you are responsible for reimbursing your account if the card is used either accidentally or intentionally for an ineligible expense. Any items you pick up at the pharmacy while you’re waiting for your prescription to be filled that are not qualified expenses (e.g., magazines, snacks, toothbrushes, etc.) cannot be paid for with your Health Wallet card. You must use a different method of payment for these types of purchases – don’t use your Health Wallet card.
If a HRA Account card transaction was completed for an item that is not eligible, it is your responsibility to reimburse your HRA Account for the same amount per IRS guidelines. Whether you are contacted or not, you will be required to pay back the money to your account via your linked bank account. Venteur will attempt to notify you that the transaction was ineligible. You will receive 3 notices requesting documentation for your transaction. After the 3rd notice, Venteur will suspend your card until the transaction is repaid.
